Diploma in Dental Emergencies and Trauma
About the Program
The DDET is a two-year postgraduate diploma programme under the Kuwait Institute for Medical Specializations (KIMS). It aims to prepare highly skilled dental practitioners capable of independently assessing and managing dental emergencies and traumatic dentoalveolar injuries in accordance with contemporary clinical guidelines and international standards of care in collaboration with other discipliners.

To become a leading postgraduate training programme in dental emergencies and trauma, setting high standards in clinical education, professional competence, and patient care.
The service will provide a first point of assessment and care for dental emergencies and trauma. The programme is dynamic and responds to Kuwait’s educational and operational needs and supports the vision of the Ministry of Health.

Five Years Strategic Goals ( 2027 - 2032 ):
1- Excellence in Education:
Establish the DDET as a leading postgraduate programme in dental emergency and trauma training in Kuwait.
2- Collaboration and Partnerships:
Strengthen partnerships with dental clinics, dental centres, emergency services, and medical training institutions to improve education and clinical training.
3- Accreditation and Recognition:
Maintain KIMS accreditation and work towards international recognition and accreditation.
4- Programme Development:
Regularly update the programme to meet Kuwait’s evolving healthcare needs and advances in dental emergency and trauma care.
5- Training Facilities:
Develop a reliable network of clinical and simulation training centres to improve training quality and accommodate more trainees.
6- Quality Assurance:
Establish a continuous quality improvement system to maintain high educational and clinical training standards.
7- National Emergency Dental Services:
Support the development of a coordinated nationwide dental emergency service that provides timely and accessible care for patients across Kuwait.
